How Much Does a Chimney Sweep Cost in Callington?

Sweeping costs depend on what you're heating with. A standard open fire sweep runs from £60 to £90, while wood burners and multi-fuel stoves range from £65 to £95. If you use a range cooker or Aga, expect £80 to £120. Beyond sweeping, most sweeps offer CCTV inspections (£90 to £155) to spot blockages or damage, and can fit bird guards or replace chimney pots. Larger jobs like relining a flue or repointing the stack cost considerably more but are typically one-off investments.

What Two Callington Sweeps Offer

Both sweeps here are based in rural Callington and work across the town and nearby parishes. Second To None Stove Installation & Chimney Sweeping has the higher review count and maintains a website, making it straightforward to get in touch. Mark Fitch Chimney Sweep operates without a dedicated site but is equally accessible by phone.

Most sweeps in this area can handle annual maintenance sweeps, pre-season inspections, and emergency blockage clearance. Ask whether they offer CCTV inspections to identify problems before they become expensive, or power sweeping if your flue has heavy tar buildup. Both also work on saturdays, so you can often book around your weekday schedule.

  • Open fire, wood burner, multi-fuel stove and Aga flue sweeping all available locally
  • CCTV inspection services to check for structural damage or debris
  • Bird nest removal and guard installation if nests are blocking your flue
  • Chimney pot replacement and repointing work

Booking Early To Beat The Rush In Callington

September through December is peak season for sweeps across Cornwall. Heating starts, chimneys that have sat unused all summer get inspected, and booking slots fill quickly. Callington's two sweeps are no exception, and waiting until October or November means longer waits for appointment slots.

Late spring and summer (May to August) is when most homeowners aren't thinking about chimneys, which is precisely why that's the ideal time to book. You'll have more choice of dates, and your sweep can prioritize your job without rushing. Booking in advance also means your chimney is clean and safe well before you light that first fire in autumn.

How Often Callington Homeowners Should Sweep

If you use an open fire regularly, a yearly sweep is the minimum. Wood burners and multi-fuel stoves typically need sweeping once a year if you burn seasoned wood, but twice yearly if you burn wet or unseasoned wood. Aga or range cooker flues often go longer between sweeps, but an annual inspection keeps you on top of any soot or tar buildup.

  • Open fire: once yearly
  • Wood burner or multi-fuel stove: once yearly (or twice if burning unseasoned wood)
  • Range cooker or Aga: check annually for tar and creosote

Best Time to Book Chimney Cleaning in Callington

Book your Callington sweep between May and August to secure a convenient slot before the September rush. Most homeowners sweep before heating season starts, so a summer appointment means your chimney is ready when you need it most.

How much does a chimney sweep cost in Callington?

A standard sweep of an open fire costs £60 to £90; wood burners and multi-fuel stoves range from £65 to £95. CCTV inspections run £90 to £155. Larger jobs like chimney pot replacement (£155 to £410) or flue relining (£920 to £2245) cost more. Prices vary based on what needs doing and which sweep you book.

Can I book a chimney sweep on a weekend in Callington?

Yes. Both local sweeps are open on Saturdays, so you can arrange an appointment outside working hours if weekdays don't suit you.

Do Callington chimney sweeps offer CCTV inspections?

Most sweeps can provide CCTV inspection services to check for blockages, cracks or other damage inside your flue. These typically cost £90 to £155 and give you a clear picture of what's happening inside your chimney.

What should I do if a bird's nest is blocking my chimney?

Contact your local sweep. Most can remove bird nests (£80 to £165) and fit a bird guard or cowl (£70 to £155) to stop it happening again. Note that nesting birds are protected by law during breeding season, so removal may need to wait until autumn.

When should I book a chimney sweep in Callington?

Book between May and August to beat the autumn rush. September through December is peak season and slots fill quickly. A summer appointment ensures your chimney is clean and ready well before heating season starts.

What's the difference between a sweep and a CCTV inspection?

A sweep cleans soot and deposits from your flue. A CCTV inspection uses a camera to spot structural damage, blockages or tar buildup that a sweep alone won't reveal. Many homeowners do both: a sweep to clean, then an inspection to check for any underlying problems.
