Which Sweeps Operate Saturdays Around Truro

Two of the four sweeps in Truro offer Saturday appointments, useful if you work through the week or prefer weekend scheduling. Towan Sweeps and Sweep Wright do not open Saturdays, so if a Saturday slot matters to you, check availability with the others when you ring.

Most sweeps can combine multiple jobs on one visit: if you have a second flue, many charge a reduced rate (typically £30 to £50) rather than a full sweep fee. Ask when you book whether they handle bird nest removal, power sweeping for tar, or smoke testing, as these services vary by business.

  • Call ahead to confirm Saturday availability and book early in the week
  • Ask what services are included in a basic sweep versus charged as extras
  • Mention any pets or access issues when booking to speed up your appointment

Sweep Coverage Across Truro, St Agnes And Kenwyn

Three of Truro's four sweeps are based in rural areas, serving villages like Mount Hawke and Shortlanesend as well as the town centre. One is based in the urban heart of Truro itself. This spread means you're likely to find someone reasonably local regardless of which Truro postcode district you're in (TR1 or TR4).

St Agnes, Truro Moresk & Trehaverne, and Gloweth, Malabar & Shortlanesend all have sweep coverage. If you're further out, nearby Perranporth (4 miles) has one sweep, Redruth (6 miles) has four, and Camborne (8 miles) has three more, so alternatives aren't far away if your first choice can't fit you in.

Wood Burner And Aga Servicing In Truro

Wood burner annual servicing typically costs £90 to £155 in Truro. If you have an Aga or range cooker flue, sweeping runs £80 to £120. These appliances need regular attention to prevent flue blockages and ensure efficient, safe operation through winter.

Ask your sweep whether they can offer a combined inspection and clean, or whether they perform smoke and draw tests to confirm your flue is working properly after sweeping. Some businesses bundle this in; others charge separately (£40 to £70 for a smoke test).

Best Time to Book Chimney Cleaning in Truro

Book your sweep between May and August to avoid the September to December rush when heating season approaches. Summer appointments are easier to arrange and mean your chimney is ready long before you light it in autumn.

How much does a chimney sweep cost in Truro?

Open fire sweeping costs £60 to £90 in Truro; wood burners or multi-fuel stoves run £65 to £95. More complex jobs like chimney pot replacement (£155 to £410) or flexible flue liner fitting (£920 to £2245) cost significantly more. Your sweep will quote based on what work you need.

Can I book a chimney sweep on Saturday in Truro?

Two of the four local sweeps offer Saturday appointments. Contact them directly to check availability, as weekend slots fill quickly, especially in autumn and early winter.

How often should I sweep my chimney?

Open fires need sweeping once a year; wood burners and multi-fuel stoves should be swept 1 to 2 times yearly depending on use. Agas and range cookers typically need sweeping annually. Your sweep can advise based on your specific appliance and burning habits.

What does a CCTV chimney inspection show?

A CCTV inspection (£90 to £155) lets your sweep see inside the flue to check for blockages, cracks, loose mortar or bird nests. It's particularly useful if you're buying a house with a chimney, or if a chimney isn't drawing properly.

Why would I need a flexible flue liner fitted?

A flue liner (£920 to £2245) protects your chimney structure from corrosive gases and improves draft efficiency. If your flue is damaged, misaligned or simply not drawing well, a liner can solve the problem without major rebuilding.

What is a power sweep and when do I need one?

A power (rotary) sweep (£90 to £155) removes heavy tar and creosote buildup, usually in older chimneys or those burning unseasoned wood. Your sweep will recommend one if a standard sweep won't clear the blockage.
