How Much Does a Chimney Sweep Cost in Poole?

Routine sweeping in Poole typically costs between £60 and £95 depending on your appliance type. An open fire runs £60 to £90, while a wood burner or multi-fuel stove is £65 to £95. If you heat with a range cooker or Aga, expect £80 to £120. Inspections and specialist work push prices higher: CCTV inspections range from £90 to £155, and jobs like chimney pot replacement (£155 to £410) or stack repointing (£305 to £1,020) reflect the materials and labour involved. These are guide prices; actual costs depend on your chimney's condition, access, and any remedial work needed.

What Seven Poole Sweeps Are Rated For

Of Poole's eight sweeps, seven have accumulated real customer reviews totalling 204 across the directory. The collective feedback shows what homeowners value: reliability, professionalism, and transparency about what they find during a visit. Jim Chim-in-ey and Chimney Geeks lead the group with 64 and 61 reviews respectively, followed by Sweep Chief Ltd with 41. This volume of feedback gives you solid ground to compare who might suit your needs, whether that's a quick sweep or a more complex inspection and repair.

A handful of businesses are still building their local presence. Burnwood Chimneys Ltd, 1st 4 Chimneys, and others have fewer reviews but remain listed with the directory and open to bookings. When choosing, look at both the number of reviews and the comments themselves; they often reveal how a sweep handles unexpected findings like blockages or damage.

  • Seven sweeps have websites for easy browsing and booking
  • Most open Saturdays, useful if you work weekdays
  • All eight are based in Poole's urban areas, not rural outskirts

Sweeping Your Open Fire, Stove, or Range Cooker

An open fire needs sweeping before each heating season; if you use it year-round, ask whether your sweep recommends annual visits. Wood burners and multi-fuel stoves typically need one sweep per year, though heavy use or soft fuels may justify more. Range cookers and Agas fall into a similar bracket, though some professional cooks sweep them twice yearly. Poole sweeps can handle all these appliances, and most will discuss the right frequency for your circumstances.

  • Open fire: £60 to £90 per sweep
  • Wood burner or multi-fuel stove: £65 to £95
  • Range cooker or Aga flue: £80 to £120

Inspections, Blockages, and When You Need More Than a Sweep

A CCTV inspection (£90 to £155) is your best tool if you suspect a blockage, damage, or haven't used your chimney in years. Most sweeps in Poole offer this as standard, and it gives you a clear picture of what's inside before committing to repairs. Bird nests are common in Poole and the surrounding neighbourhoods during nesting season (March to August); removal costs £80 to £165, and guards or cowls can be fitted afterwards for £70 to £155 to prevent repeat visits.

Structural work like stack repointing or chimney pot replacement requires specialist skills and materials. A flexible flue liner, often needed when a chimney is damaged or has a poor draw, costs £920 to £2,245 fitted. Ask your sweep to explain any findings and give you a quote before starting work, so you know exactly what you're paying for.

Best Time to Book Chimney Cleaning in Poole

Book your Poole chimney sweep between May and August to avoid the September-to-December rush. Seven of the eight local sweeps open on Saturdays, so weekend slots tend to fill quickly once autumn approaches. Aim to have your sweep done before you light the heating, giving you reassurance that your appliance is clear and safe.
