8 Best Chimney Sweeps in Preston: Trusted & Reviewed

If you burn wood, sweep annually before winter. Oil-fired boilers need sweeping twice yearly. Gas fires and cookers need less frequent sweeping but still benefit from annual checks. Ask your sweep to advise based on what you burn and how often you use it.

A CCTV inspection (£85 to £140) uses a camera to look inside your flue, spotting blockages, cracks, debris or damage without guesswork. It's especially useful if you're buying a property, installing a new stove, or wondering whether your chimney is safe to use.

Most insurance companies and mortgage lenders expect proof of regular sweeping, typically a certificate from your sweep. Always ask for one after your appointment. It records the date, what was swept and any issues found, protecting you if something goes wrong.

A power or rotary sweep (£85 to £140) uses spinning brushes to shift heavy tar and stubborn deposits that manual brushing can't reach. It's often needed if your chimney hasn't been swept for years or if you're burning wet or unsuitable fuel. A standard sweep suits regular annual maintenance.

All eight Preston sweeps listed here have websites, so you can check details and contact them directly. Four open Saturdays, which may suit you better than weekday slots. Look up their contact information and mention your postcode so they can confirm they cover your area.

Bird nests are protected during nesting season, so removal isn't always allowed. Your sweep can tell you whether removal is legal and safe right now. If you need to wait, or if a nest returns, fitting a bird guard or cowl (£65 to £140) stops future nesting once the season ends.
