How much does a chimney sweep cost in Radstock?

A basic sweep of an open fire runs £60 to £90 in the BA3 area, while a wood burner or stove is £65 to £95. Specialist jobs like CCTV inspections cost £90 to £155, and structural work such as repointing reaches £305 to £1,020. Prices depend on your appliance type and what repairs or fittings are needed. Always get a quote for your specific situation.

How often should I sweep my chimney?

For an open fire, sweep it once yearly. If you burn wood, sweep 1 to 2 times per year depending on how often you use it. Oil-fired appliances need sweeping once yearly, and gas fires typically need less frequent attention. Ask your local sweep what suits your particular setup and fuel type.

Do I need a sweeping certificate?

Yes, if your chimney is connected to a solid fuel appliance such as a wood burner or open fire, a sweeping certificate is important for insurance and safety records. Most sweeps issue one after the job. Gas appliances have different safety requirements; discuss this with your chosen sweep.

Can a chimney sweep remove a bird nest?

Yes, most sweeps offer bird nest removal at £80 to £165. However, many nests are legally protected during breeding season, so removal may need to wait until autumn. After removal, fitting a bird guard or cowl (£70 to £155) prevents future blockages.

What is a CCTV chimney inspection?

A CCTV inspection uses a camera to look inside your flue and spot cracks, blockages, or structural damage you can't see from outside. They cost £90 to £155 and are useful if you suspect a problem or are buying a property. The sweep will show you the footage and explain what they find.

Are both Radstock sweeps available on Saturday?

Yes, both Ade Horler Sweeps and Happy Smiling Chimney Services open on Saturdays, which suits many working homeowners. Contact them directly to check their exact hours and book your preferred time slot.
