7 Best Chimney Sweeps in Lowestoft [2026 Update]

Open fires and wood burners need sweeping at least once a year before the heating season starts. If you burn solid fuel heavily, twice yearly is common. Gas fires and Agas require less frequent sweeping, typically every 18 months to two years. Your sweep will advise based on the type of appliance and how you use it.

A CCTV inspection photographs the entire inside of your flue, revealing blockages, cracks, bird nests, or tar buildup that a standard sweep might miss. The footage is recorded and shown to you, making it clear whether repairs are needed. Most Lowestoft sweeps offer this service for £95 to £160.

Yes, but only outside the bird breeding season. From late spring through summer, nests are protected by law. Removal costs typically £85 to £170 depending on nest size and flue access. A guard or cowl fitted afterwards (£75 to £160) prevents birds returning.

Check whether the sweep has customer reviews and operates in your postcode (NR32 or NR33). Ask if they offer the services you need, standard sweeping, CCTV inspection, repairs, and whether they have insurance and a sweeping certificate to prove the work was done. Saturday availability matters if weekday visits don't suit you.

Chimney stack repointing, which involves replacing deteriorated mortar between bricks, ranges from £320 to £1060 depending on how much damage is present and how accessible the stack is. A CCTV inspection or site visit allows your sweep to give a more precise estimate.

A sweep cleans the flue and checks for obvious problems. If structural damage, leaks, or significant buildup is found, a specialist may be needed for repairs like repointing, relining, or pot replacement. Many Lowestoft sweeps offer both services or can recommend a specialist if major work is required.
