6 Best Chimney Sweeps in Huddersfield: Trusted & Reviewed

Most chimneys need sweeping once a year before winter starts. If you burn wood or solid fuel regularly, ask your sweep whether twice-yearly sweeping suits your use. Open fires and stoves produce more soot and tar than gas appliances, so fuel type affects the schedule.

Yes, three of the six sweeps listed here open on Saturdays. Ring around to check current availability and book ahead, as weekend slots tend to fill quickly, especially as winter approaches.

A sweep physically cleans soot and debris from your flue. A CCTV inspection uses a camera to inspect the inside, spotting cracks, blockages or nesting that a sweep alone won't reveal. Most sweeps offer both services and can do them on the same visit.

Old mortar between chimney bricks deteriorates over decades, letting rain in and weakening the stack. Relining with a flexible liner protects a damaged flue and improves draw. Your sweep can recommend which work suits your chimney after they inspect it.

Many nesting birds are protected by law during breeding season, so removal is restricted. Contact your sweep to discuss timing and options. Once the nest is cleared, fitting a bird guard (£65 to £140) prevents future nesting.

Check reviews if they're available, look for Saturday opening if you need it, and verify they cover your postcode. Ring two or three to ask about their experience with your chimney type and whether they offer CCTV on the same visit. Most will give you a rough idea of cost over the phone.
